Westbook Police Chief defends early morning inspection at Dreamers Cabaret
News

WESTBROOK, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Westbrook's Police Chief is responding to criticism of his department by the attorney for Dreamers Cabaret, a strip club that was shut down by the city, and is fighting to reopen. Chief Bill Baker claims an officer discovered activity at the club at 1 o'clock Sunday morning that indicated it was open for business without a permit.

But construction workers inside insist that while they did have music blaring, they were working, trying to get renovations done quickly.

The attorney for the club, Tom Hallett characterized the Westbrook Police Department as "childish" and "over vigilant" in an interview with the Portland Press Herald. That does not sit well with the chief.
