Another storm put snow removal on back burner

WESTBROOK, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Normally after a storm, Westbrook Public Services storm crews would be heading back out for snow removal, making the streets a little wider and cutting down some of the big piles around the city.

Instead, they're forced to plow and sand operations because of a storm Friday.

"With the amount of snow we received Tuesday and Wednesday it would take us two full nights of snow removal in the critical areas downtown, but obviously we haven't had a chance to do that yet", said Public Services Director Tom Eldridge.

The plan is to continue plowing through the night, then switch the equipment to snow removal operations on Sunday.

When it comes to snow budgets, Tuesday's storm took out a big chunk. Westbrook officials said they're still in good shape for the season. More snow is possible for Monday and crews are hoping it doesn't amount to much so they catch a break and deal with the snow already on the ground.
