WESTBROOK, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- One woman is hurt after a car crashed through the storefront of the Rite Aid in Westbrook. The accident happened a little after noon Sunday.

Westbrook Fire Department officials said the elderly driver was pulling into a parking spot when he hit the gas instead of the brake. He drove through the glass panel of the building and came to a stop inside the store.

Officials said the woman's injuries did not appear to be serious, but she was taken to Maine Medical Center for evaluation. The driver and the passenger, his wife, are okay.

"The store employees were really shocked, because where the car stopped was up against the cashier booth, and there was actually people at the cash register when the car came through the building," Deputy Chief Gary Caron of the Westbrook Fire Department said.

The names of the people involved were not available at the scene of the accident.
