Please join us for our annual Streamside Cleanup on Saturday, June 1st from 9am – noon. The group will meet at the City’s Parks & Recreation Center, located at 647 Main Street. This annual event is an opportunity to volunteer and make a difference in our community by cleaning up litter in our local neighborhoods, parks, and roadways.  Past events have been very successful.  We are now asking for community help cleaning up the areas draining into Arctic Brook, Capehart Brook, Meadow Brook, and the Penjajawoc Stream.  We can also use help cleaning up roadside ditches surrounding Birch Stream, Sucker Brook, and Shaw Brook, Kenduskeag Stream, and the Penobscot River.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Come by yourself or bring a team. Gloves, bags, safety vests, water and t-shirts will be provided. The event is rain or shine, so please dress accordingly.

Maps of the stream coverage area will be provided to team leaders the day of the event. We ask that team leaders arrive no later than 8:30 am. This event is hosted by the City of Bangor and the Bangor Area Stormwater Group.

The Bangor Area Stormwater Group is also holding Streamside Cleanups in the neighboring communities. For a complete listing of other cleanup dates or to sign up for an “anytime streamside cleanup” visit www.baswg.org.
